BUDDY - JANUARY 2007: is a 2
year old Labrador Retriever that showed up in a local veterinary emergency
room after having eaten part of a blanket. Buddy had a foreign body
obstruction that required surgery to save his life. Fortunately the
surgery was successful and Buddy has returned home where he has made a full
recovery. |

AUSSIE - JANUARY 2007:
an 11 year old Australian Shepherd diagnosed with Hemangiopericytoma, a type
of cancer, on his front leg. Surgery was performed and Aussie is also
receiving some follow-up treatment with assistance from the Zach Memorial
Fund. |

LOKI - JANUARY 2007: is
a 6 1/2 year old mixed breed with nasal Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Loki
is receiving radiation for his cancer; the lines on his photo mark the
radiation area. The Zach Memorial Fund is providing financial

LUCKY - JANUARY 2007: is
a 14 year old Pomeranian mix who was diagnosed with stones in his urethra
and a urethral obstruction. A cystotomy was performed to remove the stones.
The surgery was uneventful , but he developed some complications due to what
was believed to be a urethral tear. The tear allowed urine to leak
into the tissues around the perineum, requiring a second surgery to fix.
Following this second procedure Lucky was much more comfortable and happy.
He should recover completely. | |

DUKE - FEBRUARY 2007: an
11 year old Dalmatian that was adopted from a vet clinic's "free to a good
home" board when he was 7. Duke was always healthy until recently, when he
began to show signs of urinary problems. Duke was diagnosed with
bladder stones and underwent successful surgery to correct the problem. | |

GRACIE - MARCH 2007: is a 5
year old Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd mix and former rescued dog
recently diagnosed with lymphoma. She has begun chemotherapy and there
are high hopes that she will respond well to her treatments. Her four
siblings (one dog, two cats, and a rabbit) are helping to keep her spirits
up. The Zach Memorial Fund is assisting with expenses. | |

DEMI MOORE - MARCH 2007:
is an 8 year old Doberman who began walking stiffly and then developed
trouble going up and down stairs. She was diagnosed with a cervical
disc compression and underwent several complicated surgeries to fix the
problem. Despite the recovery challenges that such a
case presents, Demi is walking and eating well and should continue a steady
recovery. | |

PHOENIX- MARCH 2007: is
a 12 year old Golden Retriever diagnosed with a malignant oral melanoma.
Phoenix underwent surgery, and had stitches in her mouth, under her jaw,
and all the way down to the base of her throat. Phoenix is recovering
well and continues to feel good. She may still need some follow-up
care so that the cancer does not reoccur. The Zach Memorial Fund has
been assisting with expenses. | |

CHELSEA - MARCH 2007: is
a 13 year old Retriever mix who was quite ill with pancreatitis.
Chelsea's illness was severe, and she required extensive care over a long
period to turn the corner. However, she has finally returned to her old
self, and is enjoying being back home again wagging her tail and playing
with her young owner. | |

LUCIE - APRIL 2007: a 10
year old mixed breed suffering from a kidney dysfunction and cough.
Upon examination it was determined she was in late stage renal failure, and
despite the best of care she was unable to survive. | |

FRITZI - APRIL 2007: is
an 8 year old Doberman diagnosed with a soft tissue cancer. He
underwent surgery to amputate a forelimb in an effort to stop the
progression of the cancer. At this time he is doing great and does not
need follow-up treatment. The Zach Memorial Fund provided funds for
Fritzi's care. | |

SHYLOH - APRIL 2007: is
a 5 year old Miniature Pinscher who had orthopedic surgery to repair a
fractured radius and ulna. Shyloh is doing well and should be back to
normal very soon. | |

MOLLY - APRIL 2007: is
an 8 month old Husky / Retriever mix who had surgery for a foreign-body
obstruction. During the surgery approximately 5 inches of her
intestines were removed. Following the first surgery, Molly needed a
second surgery and follow-up treatment for esophagiitis. Happily, she
is now on the road to recovery and expected to live a normal life. | |

JUNE - APRIL 2007: is
a 1 1/2 year old Corgi mix that was suffering from recurring bladder
infections. Upon examination she was diagnosed with bladder stones.
Following successful surgery she is now active and happy, and has returned
home. | |

CHEYLA - MAY 2007: is
a 10 year old Labrador Retriever with an eyelid mass that started as a small
spot and worsened suddenly. The mass ulcerated, causing inflammation
of the eye, and had grown to the point where it nearly covered her entire
eye. A very specialized surgery was required to remove the mass.
At first it was feared that it might be malignant, but thankfully was
benign. Cheyla is making a good recovery. | |

CHLOE - MAY 2007: a 7
year old Cairn Terrier diagnosed with cancer of undetermined origin.
She is currently recovering from surgery to remove a malignant tumor.

KAYDEE - MAY 2007: is
a 4 year old Shih Tzu with a pancreatic abscess that turned into a nasty
case of pancreatitis. After multiple surgeries and treatments, Kaydee
finally turned the corner. She is now well on the way to a complete
recovery. | |

JACK BLAZE - MAY 2007:
a 6 year old Boxer diagnosed with lymphoma. After an optimistic
initial examination, Jack Blaze began chemotherapy, but unfortunately did
not respond to the treatments. He lost his battle one month later.

PHISH - MAY 2007:
is a 3 year old Labrador Retriever mix who was adopted from a carnival,
where he had been living in the back of a Jeep. Phish was
suffering from a fractured right rear tibia. After successful orthopedic
surgery, Phish recovered nicely and has become an active part of his new
family. | |

ACE - JUNE 2007: is
an 3 month old Bull Terrier mix who was diagnosed with parvo shortly
after his adoption from a shelter. Although seriously ill, Ace
responded to treatment and is making steady progress in his recovery
now. | |

MYSTIC - JUNE 2007:
a 6 year old Collie who experienced weight lost and lack of appetite.
His owner took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with Lymphosarcoma.
When he checked into the hospital he had to be wheeled away on a cart, but
today he is responding well to treatment and his bright face and wagging
tail have returned. The Zach Memorial Fund is assisting with Mystic's
expenses. | |

BUCK - JUNE 2007: is
a 6 year old Labrador Retriever diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Buck recently began treatment for his cancer. The Zach Memorial Fund

Jack Russell Terrier and agility dog recently diagnosed with lymphoma.
Eddie began treatments in June and so far is responding very well. He
has returned to his agility training and hopes to be able to compete again

QUEENIE - JULY 2007: is a 9
year old Boxer that was taken very ill with pyometra, a serious infection of
the uterus. Emergency surgery was required to save her life. She
recovered from the surgery, had some follow-up care, and has now returned
safely home to her owners. | |

ELVIS - JULY 2007: an 8 month
old Border Collie that required complicated surgery to fix a broken
leg. The surgery required the installation of a "ring fixator" to better
allow the limb to heal. Without the surgery, this young energetic boy
would never have had a functional leg. The procedure went very well
and Elvis was able to continue his recovery at home just a few days later. | |

TONI - JULY 2007: is an 11
year old mixed breed that was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer. Toni
needed her tail amputated to keep the cancer from spreading.
Successful surgery was performed andToni is doing well. The Zach
Memorial Fund assisted with Toni's expenses. | |

PENNY - JULY 2007: a 5 year
old Labrador Retriever diagnosed with a very aggressive renal sarcoma.
The cancer went into a brief remission, but sadly, it returned with a
vengeance a few months later and Penny was not able to survive. The

QUEENIE - JULY 2007: an 11
month old Chihuahua whose sustained a broken leg when she was
accidentally stepped on. This little 1 1/2 lb puppy underwent
successful surgery and should make a full recovery. | |

KELSEY - JULY 2007: is an 8
year old retriever / shepherd mix diagnosed with bladder stones. He
was originally placed on a special diet to see if the stones would pass, but
they did not and surgery was necessary to ensure that the stones did not
cause a blockage. Kelsey came through the surgery very well and has
now returned home. | |

LEXI - AUGUST 2007: a 3 year
old Rottweiler that required surgery on her knee to repair a ruptured
cruciate ligament. Lexi was adopted by her owners from a rescue
organization after having been abused by a previous owner. She was
just coming out of her shell when she injured her knee playing in the back
yard with her adopted brother. The surgery went well and Lexie is expected
to make a full recovery. | |

STEVE - AUGUST 2007: is an 8
year old Greyhound that was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer. Steve
initially had surgery to remove a large tumor and then underwent
chemotherapy and radiation. Steve is handling the
treatments well so far. The Zach Memorial Fund assisted with his

BOOMER - AUGUST 2007: is a 7
year old Retriever mix diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma. Boomer has
begun chemotherapy and so far is responding well. The Zach Memorial

year old Boxer that had a ruptured gall bladder. Successful surgery
was performed and after several days in the hospital, Lola was able to go

year old Boston Terrier that has been diagnosed with leukemia. R2D2 is
undergoing treatment for his cancer with financial assistance from the Zach

DEW - SEPTEMBER 2007: is an 11
year old Cockapoo that had a peritoneal hernia. Successful surgery
was performed to repair the hernia. Prior to the surgery, Dew was
unable to have normal bowel movements and frequently experienced pain and
discomfort. Dew is home now, his stitches are out, and a
full recovery is anticipated. | |

LACY - SEPTEMBER 2007:
a 5 year old Sheltie being treated for heartworms. Lacy did well with
the treatments and should make a full recovery. | |

EDDIE - SEPTEMBER 2007: a 10
year old Papillon and service dog for a couple who are both
hearing-impaired. As well as being a family member, Eddie provides
invaluable support to his owners by alerting them to sounds such as sirens,
oncoming vehicles, etc. Eddie developed cataracts in both eyes and a
retinal tear in one that required delicate surgery. The
surgeon was able to repair the cataracts in both eyes and save all but 1/4
of the retina in one eye. Prior to Eddie's diagnosis, one of his owners
had to face three surgeries for malignant melanoma, leaving them with some
lingering medical expenses. Eddie has an excellent
prognosis and his family is grateful for help from the Ashley Fund. | |

SAMMY - SEPTEMBER 2007:
is a young, athletic Sheltie who loves to jump. He was
temporarily grounded when he was diagnosed with heartworms. Sammy is
responding well to treatment and is expected to recover fully. | |

SHYNE - OCTOBER 2007: is a
young bull terrier that was rescued and adopted after a rough life on
the street. Shyne was left on the side of the road for dead and
found with a tow chain wrapped around his neck , a gunshot wound in his
back, and a broken foot. He required some extensive care to treat his
injuries. Despite this rough beginning he maintained a
good-natured disposition throughout his ordeal and has returned to his
new home for a more relaxed existence on the sofa. | |

MAGGIE - OCTOBER 2007:
a 5 year old Rottweiler whose needed surgery to repair a cruciate tear.
Maggie was adopted by her owners from an area shelter four years ago.
She is doing well following surgery and hoping to return to her active life
again soon. | |

CHEWBACCA - OCTOBER 2007:
is a 7 year old Poodle with a testicular mass, and needed surgery to remove
the tumor. Chewbacca has done very well since the procedure and is
back home, where his recovery continues on his favorite sofa. | |

BRANDI - OCTOBER 2007:
an 8 year old Dachshund that was nearly completely paralyzed due to a severe
back problem. She underwent delicate back surgery and so far has
been recovering nicely. | |

TIMMY - OCTOBER 2007: is
a 2 yr old mixed breed that had several serious medical issues. First
he experienced a "bloat", a life-threatening twisting of the stomach, that
required emergency surgery. Then he developed aspiration pneumonia.
Timmy spent quite a while in the hospital but finally turned the corner and
was able to go home. | |

FABULOUS - OCTOBER 2007:
is a handsome 7 year old Labrador Retriever diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma.
This is a very aggressive cancer that required surgery and follow-up
treatment. Fabulous received assistance with his expenses from the

WOODY - OCTOBER 2007: is
a 9 1/2 year old Scottish Terrier diagnosed with bronchogenic carcinoma.
Woody underwent surgery to have the tumor removed from his lung. He
actually arrested before he got into the operating room but was a real
fighter and made it through. Woody has a bounce back in his step now
and is undergoing chemotherapy. The Zach Memorial Fund is assisting
with his expenses. | |

WANDA - OCTOBER 2007:
a 2 year old Labradoodle with a bone-invading soft tissue sarcoma. In
order to stop the cancer progression, Wanda underwent an amputation and has
adjusted very well to her life on three legs. She is also receiving
some follow-up chemotherapy. The Zach Memorial Fund is providing
financial assistance for Wanda's care. | |

a 2 year old Hound who has lymphoma. She is undergoing chemotherapy

MILLIE - OCTOBER 2007: a
12 year old Golden Retriever who had several serious health issues,
including a urinary tract infection, a mass on her left forelimb, and the
beginnings of cataracts. Surgery was performed to remove the tumor and
her sutures were removed shortly afterwards. Millie is doing very well
and should be much better able to enjoy her "golden years" now. | |

is a 4 year old Shepherd / Lab mix who had a foreign body that perforated
his intestines, causing septic peritonitis. Emergency surgery was
performed and after several days in the hospital, Lucky is recovering at
home and has a good prognosis. | |

TILLEY - NOVEMBER 2007:
is a 2 year old Yorkshire Terrier who was very ill with a bladder stone.
The stone was causing bleeding and surgery was urgently needed to correct
the problem. Following a successful procedure, Tilley returned home in
time for the holidays and should continue to make a full recovery. | |

ZEUS - NOVEMBER 2007: is a 4 year old Labrador Retriever who
had successful surgery to remove a Grade 1 Chondrosarcoma. Zeus
has recovered from his surgery and at this time no follow-up is planned.

TINKER - NOVEMBER 2007: a 9 year old dachshund diagnosed with
thrombocytopenia (low platelets). Unfortunately, in Tinker's case her
condition caused a severe gastrointestinal bleed and she was unable to

TRAIL MIX - DECEMBER 2007:
a 12 year old Yorkshire Terrier with a serious heart problem.

is a 9 year old Golden Retriever "service dog" who had a large mast cell
tumor near his left shoulder. Successful surgery was
performed to remove the tumor. Some additional chemotherapy follow-up
may still be needed, but Duncan is doing well. The Zach Memorial Fund

CHEETAH - DECEMBER 2007:
a 1 year old German Shepherd diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia in his left
hip. Cheetah was experiencing severe pain, so an FHO was successfully
performed to correct the problem. Cheetah made it home for the
holidays and is continuing to recover nicely. | |

JOE - DECEMBER 2007: a 4
year old Labrador Retriever with several serious medical issues. Joe
had a gun shot wound which had fractured his femur and required surgery to
repair. He also had a ruptured bladder that needed medical attention.
Joe spent several days in the hospital but is continuing his recovery at
home now. | |
