 | DAISY - JANUARY 2004: a two year old Schnauzer who was diagnosed with lymphoma. It appeared that she had a good chance for a remission and began chemotherapy. However, she did not respond well to her first treatment and passed away from complications. Daisy was assisted by the Zach Memorial Fund for dogs with cancer. |

 | OSKAR - MARCH 2004: is a nine month old giant Schnauzer that was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia. A bone in his front left leg stopped growing prematurely, leaving his elbow joint unstable and causing him to limp. X-rays showed a bone fragment in the joint and signs of arthritis. Thanks to a successful surgery to remove the fragment and lengthen the bone, Oskar is able to run again. |  |

 | DODGER - MARCH 2004: a ten year old Golden Retriever mix who has lymphosarcoma. So far Dodger is responding well to chemotherapy and is hopefully on the way to a complete remission. The Zach Memorial Fund is helping Dodger with his expenses. |  |

 | JACK - MARCH 2004: is a three year old English Bulldog who broke his leg in an auto accident. Jack's orthopedic surgery went very well and he is up and playing again. |  |

| Picture Not Available | McKENZIE - APRIL 2004: is a seven year old Eskimo Spitz who was diagnosed with an eye problem called "Anterior Lense luxation". Without surgery this condition could cause glaucoma due to the eye's inability to drain normally. Surgery was performed to remove the lense and McKenzie is doing really well. |  |

Upon examination it was determined that a puppy had gotten lodged in the birth canal and had to be surgically removed. The surgery went fine and Sassy should make full recovery. |  |

 | SABER - APRIL 2004: a 3 year old husky mix who became lethargic and wouldn't eat or play. After a number of tests the problem was diagnosed as an auto-immune illness. It took a little while, but Saber finally turned the corner and has recovered. |  |

 | BUCKSHOT - MAY 2004: is a 4 year old Labrador Retriever mix who was hit by a car. Following successful orthopedic surgery, Buckshot is back at home running and playing. |  |

| Picture Not Available | LEON - JUNE 2004: is an 8 month old Golden Retriever mix who began limping and having joint pain. Upon examination, it was determined that he had degenerative joint disease. FHO surgery was performed and he has been doing great since. |  |

 | CLOVER - JUNE 2004: a 4 year old mixed breed who became ill with stomach issues. Although labwork was normal, she did not immediately get better with supportive care. She developed a fever, and was lethargic and not eating. After hospitalization and stronger medication, she was able to go home and is doing well. |  |

 | PUPPY (GRACIE) - JUNE 2004: is a 3 month old Labrador Retriever mix who was literally found on the doorstep with a badly broken leg. Fortunately she was taken in by the family that found her, and surgery was successful in saving her leg. Puppy, now named "Gracie", is expecting a complete recovery. |  |

| Picture Not Available | CARMELLA - JUNE 2004: a 4 month old Rottweiler who went outside in her own backyard and got caught in some brush. She emerged limping and crying. The diagnosis was a fracture of her left elbow, which was repaired with a screw and pins. Since the surgery, she has had no further complications. |  |

 | BENDER - JULY 2004: a 10 month old chocolate Labrador Retriever that had a bowel obstruction after he ate part of a bath towel. Without surgery he would not have made it, but he is rapidly getting back to normal following successful removal of the obstruction. |  |

The owners noticed he was lame in a hind limb and a cranial cruciate ligament tear was diagnosed. Surgery was done to repair the area and to clean the joint out. His movement has improved greatly since surgery, and he is still healing. |  |

| Picture Not Available | SWEET PEA - AUGUST 2004: is a one year old bulldog mix who tore her cruciate ligament while playing with her other canine siblings. The torn ligament was replaced with a synthetic implant to stabilize the joint. Sweet Peat is doing great and never slowed down! |  |

 | ANNIE - SEPTEMBER 2004: is a two-year old Border Collie who had a mysterious illness, finally diagnosed as bartonella ("cat scratch fever"). Annie is recovering nicely now following treatment with medication. |  |

 | CYPRESS - SEPTEMBER 2004: a 9 year old Bull Terrier who had testicular cancer. Cypress had surgery to remove a large tumor and is doing better. Cypress' medical expenses were covered by the Zach Memorial Fund for dogs with cancer. |  |

 | TONYA - OCTOBER 2004: a six year old Golden Retriever who had a fever, was lethargic, and required transport to an emergency vet in the middle of the night. It was discovered she had serious respiratory disease, bacterial pneumonia, and was beginning to experience signs of heart failure. However, now Tonya is expected to fully recover following treatments consisting of oxygen, IV fluids and antibiotics. |  |

 | BOW WOW - OCTOBER 2004: a bulldog mix that sustained severe injuries when he was attacked by a group of dogs in his yard. It took some extensive surgeries and treatments to save him, but he did survive and has made a full recovery. |  |

 | LUCHO - NOVEMBER 2004: a Basset Hound who escaped from the fence and was hit by a car. Several caring neighbors stopped to help and transported Lucho to the Veterinary Hospital where she underwent surgery for several injuries. Lucho has a good prognosis and is improving daily. |  |
