JACKSON - JANUARY 2008:  is a 2 year old Labrador Retriever with osteosarcoma.  Jackson was showing some signs of lameness in one leg, and the cancer was diagnosed upon further examination.  To slow the progression, Jackson's leg was amputated and he is getting around very well.   Assistance was provided by the Zach Memorial Fund.

CHARLOTTE - JANUARY 2008:  is a 2 year old Shepherd mix that was diagnosed with heartworms.  Charlotte was originally a "rescue" who was a bit shy, but following her recovery from the heartworm treatment she has blossomed into a truly wonderful dog and lives comfortably in her new home.

Picture Not Available LAIKA - JANUARY 2008:  a 12 year old Siberian Husky who was diagnosed with intestinal neuroendocrine carcinoma.  He had surgery for a mass removal and also had follow-up chemotherapy.  Laika is doing great, playing, and has no restrictions.  The Zach Memorial Fund provided assistance for Laika's treatments.

DRAKE - JANUARY 2008:  is a 10 year old Schnauzer diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma.  Drake's owner was able to get support from the Zach Memorial Fund to treat this aggressive cancer with a hind leg amputation.  He is also receiving chemotherapy and he has been doing well.

MIA - JANUARY 2008:  a 9 year old Boxer who escaped out of her fenced backyard and disappeared for two days.   When she returned home she had a broken femur and pelvis.  Surgery was performed to correct these injuries and Mia has made a great recovery.

BLACK JACK - FEBRUARY 2008:  is a 12 year old Labrador Retriever diagnosed with epithelioma of right carpal region, a type of cancer.  He underwent radiation therapy and a left forequarter amputation.  Additional masses were found that required more surgery, so Black Jack is currently "rehabbing" from these procedures.  Black Jack received monetary support from the Zach Memorial Fund.

MAX - MARCH 2008:  is a 3 year old Great Dane who was rescued in an emaciated condition with a shattered front leg and torn ligaments in a hind leg.  Max required extensive orthopedic surgery and had to have a plate placed in his leg.  He has recovered very nicely and is actually able to run now.

ALEXANDER - APRIL 2008:  is a 4 year old Golden Retriever and "seeing eye dog" who had squamous cell carcinoma.  Alexander had successful surgery and it looks as though no follow-up chemotherapy will be required.  Alexander received financial assistance from the Zach Memorial Fund.

ELSA - APRIL 2008:  is a 11 month old Doberman who was seriously ill with an autoimmune anemia.  She had lost weight and stopped eating, requiring urgent care and extensive treatment with antibiotics and steroids.    Fortunately Elsa responded well to the therapies and is continuing her recovery.

OTIS - MAY 2008:  a 10 year old mixed breed that was diagnosed with mast cell cancer.  With assistance from the Zach Memorial Fund, Otis had surgery to successfully remove a tumor.  Unfortunately Otis rapidly developed additional tumors and further tests indicated that his cancer was quite advanced.  Sadly, Otis lost his battle a short while ago but was able to spend a bit more quality time with his family.

SHANIA - MAY 2008:  a 5 year old Labrador Retriever who required TPLO, an orthopedic surgery, to correct a painful condition.  Shania is making an excellent recovery!

JAZZ - MAY 2008:  is a 7 year old Schnauzer who suddenly stopped eating and was lethargic.  The next day she also showed signs of pain in her neck and forelimbs.  Upon further testing she was diagnosed with Glomerulonephritis with possible neck muscle or disk disease.  At this time, Jazz is doing much better following treatment with Rimadyl, an appetite stimulant, medication for her kidneys, and IV fluids.

Picture Not Available DIALGA - MAY 2008  is a 16 week old Rottweiler mix that needed a complex orthopedic surgery to correct a hip problem.  Among other things, bone fragments had to be removed to alleviate the pain.  Without the surgery Dialga would have had a significantly compromised quality of life.

Picture Not Available TIMI - MAY 2008:  is a 10 year old miniature dachshund  who was diagnosed with a cervical sarcoma.  The Zach Memorial Fund provided monetary assistance so that Timi could have a delicate surgical procedure to remove the mass.
